Role summary: The Systems / Plant Engineer will act as a key interface between operational site teams and a major asset management and systems transformation programme. Working closely with engineering, maintenance, operations, planning and asset management stakeholders, the role will support the understanding, transformation and improvement of plant, asset and maintenance data.
You will support asset data cleansing, enrichment, validation and migration activities, ensuring engineering and maintenance information is accurately captured, standardised and aligned with agreed asset hierarchies, governance requirements and target system structures.
The role requires a strong understanding of plant operations, engineering systems and asset management processes, together with the ability to engage effectively with site-based stakeholders and programme teams to improve data quality, support system implementation and enable changes to processes and ways of working.
What you will be doing:
Act as the interface between the transformation programme and assigned operational site(s).
Build effective working relationships with engineering, maintenance, operations, asset management and project teams.
Facilitate workshops, interviews and working sessions to understand site-specific asset management processes, maintenance strategies and system usage.
Work collaboratively with subject matter experts to resolve data, process and system-related issues.
Lead and support activities to cleanse, validate, enrich and standardise asset data in preparation for migration.
Ensure asset hierarchies, equipment records, maintenance plans and associated data meet agreed standards and governance requirements.
Identify and rectify data quality issues, gaps, inconsistencies and duplicate records.
Provide engineering insight to ensure plant and asset information is accurately represented within the target system.
Review and validate engineering and maintenance data to ensure alignment with plant configuration and operational requirements.
Support the development and implementation of standard asset management structures, naming conventions and data governance arrangements.
Collaborate with programme teams, system integrators and technical specialists to ensure site requirements are understood and incorporated into the solution.
Support site readiness activities for data migration, testing and deployment.
Coordinate site-based reviews to ensure migrated records meet operational and maintenance requirements.
Support users through changes to processes, data structures and ways of working.
Provide post-migration support to resolve issues and drive continual improvement in data quality and system adoption.
Undertake checking activities as part of data and information governance for migratable data.
Formal qualifications or training:
Relevant engineering qualification or equivalent technical experience.
Demonstrable experience working with plant, engineering, maintenance or asset management data.
Experience of asset management or maintenance management systems.
Experience working with engineering, maintenance and/or operational stakeholders in a site-based environment.
Knowledge of asset hierarchies, equipment records, maintenance strategies and data governance principles.
Experience of data cleansing, validation, standardisation and migration activities.
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including the ability to facilitate workshops and work with subject matter experts.
Experience supporting system implementation, data migration, testing or organisational change would be advantageous.
