Role summary: Join a landmark international programme at the forefront of the AUKUS partnership and help shape the future of one of the most significant defence infrastructure projects in Australia's history. As a Principal Electrical Service Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering complex engineering solutions in Adelaide, South Australia. Supported throughout a fully funded 2–3 year secondment, this is an opportunity to broaden your expertise, expand your professional network, and enhance skills that will accelerate your career. Must be willing to relocate to Adelaide.
What you will be doing:
Demonstrable experience supporting the design, operation, maintenance, or upgrade of caisson gate drive systems, dockside electrical plant, heavy industrial electrical systems, or wider marine and naval infrastructure.
Previous involvement in major Defence, nuclear, maritime, or critical national infrastructure programmes, with an understanding of the unique assurance, safety, and stakeholder requirements associated with these environments.
Practical experience facilitating, participating in, or supporting HAZOP, HAZID, design risk reviews, and safety assurance activities within highly regulated industries such as nuclear, defence, rail, energy, or process engineering.
Working knowledge of relevant Australian Standards (AS/NZS) and statutory requirements, or the ability to rapidly transfer expertise from equivalent UK, European, or international codes and standards.
Experience providing technical leadership, mentoring engineers, and acting as a trusted engineering authority within multidisciplinary project teams.
Proven ability to engage effectively with clients, regulators, contractors, and delivery partners, balancing technical excellence with programme and commercial objectives.
Formal qualifications or training:
Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a closely related discipline (BEng, MEng, or equivalent demonstrable experience).
Chartered Engineer (CEng) status through the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) or an equivalent recognised professional body.
Demonstrable commitment to continuous professional development and maintaining professional registration.
Existing UK Security Check (SC) clearance, or the ability to obtain and maintain clearance, is highly desirable.
Ability to satisfy Australian project security requirements. Australian NV1 clearance is not required for initial deployment, although it may become advantageous for individuals seeking longer-term opportunities or permanent residency pathways in Australia.
